About the event

Is Age “Just a Number”? Generational Differences Matter!

Join us for our February Meeting, where Sandi Larson will be talking about generational diversity – Baby Boomers, Gen X, Millennials, Gen Z…. and dare we look at the up-and-coming Generation Alpha? When you were born affects your thoughts, perspective, attitudes, and more. Diversity adds richness to our lives, but it also creates challenges. When we better understand each other, we can better relate. Sandi will define generational differences and explain why it is important to understand them. This will be a fun, interactive session to learn more about yourself and others.

**PLEASE NOTE: The Empowered Women's Network will have a booth at the Duluth Women's Expo on Saturday, February 25, 2023. Each year, the Women's Expo hosts a health & hygiene drive for Safe Haven, a local shelter and resource center in Duluth which provides services to women, children, and all survivors whose lives have been affected by physical, emotional, sexual, and economic abuse. Please click here to view a list of requested items. If you bring items to donate to our February meeting, you will receive a FREE TICKET to the Duluth Women's Expo!

About Our Speaker

Sandi Larson is the Director of the Women’s Business Alliance North at the Entrepreneur Fund. In this role, Sandi provides one-on-one advising to entrepreneurs who want to start a business, grow their business, or need assistance with specific business issues such as cash flow, marketing, or managing a business. She also is responsible for developing programs and opportunities for women entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and develop business skills.

After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from UMD, Sandi worked in a small non-profit, a small publishing company, a law office, a large manufacturing company, higher education, and was even an entrepreneur herself for a few years.  She has worked in Economic Development for the past 18 years working with small businesses and with communities to help encourage and develop entrepreneurship throughout the Northeast region. She started her Economic Development career at the UMD Small Business Development Center. During that time, she completed her Master’s degree focusing on Organizational Leadership and Community Engagement.

In her personal time, Sandi loves to be outdoors and volunteer. She has combined these two passions by volunteering her time as a Volunteer National Ski Patrol, organizing and leading the Women Hike Duluth group and their monthly hikes, is a Captain for the Grandma’s Marathon Medical Finish Line and Bike Patrol, serving on the medical committee, and serves on the EWN Board to name a few of her volunteer activities. Sandi lives in the Lincoln Park area of Duluth with her husband. She also has an adult son Ben, two cats, and her pup Koda who she hikes with every day.
