About the event
The Heart of a Woman: Prevention of heart disease
Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women in the Northland. Prevention is key. As a cardiologist, Dr. Katie Benziger will tell us what we need to do to prevent heart disease. She will talk about knowing your numbers, like blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and weight, and the importance of routine physical activity and diet. She'll also discuss more rare causes of heart disease in women, like valve disease and pregnancy-related risk factors.
About Our Speaker

In addition, she mentors students during the summer and through the cardiology clerkship at the University of Minnesota Medical School.
